1. Engaging our Alumni: The board of the African Business Club hopes to engage alumni in our activities and gain further support and sponsorship.
Please contact Mehdi Ghissassi (MGhissassi12@gsb.columbia.edu) if you have more questions.
2. Admissions: The African Business Club will work with Columbia Business School to recruit African talent. The African Business Club has elected a VP of membership, who will meet with the Admissions office at least twice a year in order to assist them in any way we can in order to recruit more people of African descent. We plan to do so by contributing further on campus, being involved in structures such as the Hermes society, and also being the first point of contact for African prospective students
Please contact Alexis Rathborne (ARathborne12@gsb.columbia.edu) if you have more questions.
3. Exposing students to business in Africa via academics: The African Business Club hopes to incorporate more African business cases and create new courses that focus on business issues on the continent.
The African Business Club will work with the Academic Office at Columbia Business School in order to incorporate more emerging markets focused courses on the core syllabus. However, we also intend to raise awareness of the wide variety of African and emerging market focused courses already available to current students. The club believes that classes such as the Master Class: Private Equity and Entrepreneurship in Africa and several other classes available in the School of International and Public Affairs and the law School should be better advertised to prospective students.
